The return to normalcy is getting closer and closer, and it’s something that excites us all. Advances in the COVID-19 vaccination plan mean that your return to the workplace is just around the corner. In the state of California, the government has defined the ideal measures to return to normalcy. Getting to this point took them some time, as they were a week late in making the decision.
The central discussion during this debate involved whether it is necessary to continue wearing a mask or not. Throughout the pandemic, there has been a back and forth about the use of masks. Two things were defined:
- The use of face masks will no longer be mandatory as long as you work outside. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, you should use the mask again, regardless of whether you are vaccinated or not.
- The use of face masks is still mandatory in an enclosed space. You can only stop using it if all the people who work with you are already vaccinated and do not have any symptoms of COVID-19.
The other point that was discussed was social distancing. This is still a requirement if you are going to work at an event where more than 10,000 people will be in attendance, but this will change after July 31st. These conditions are subject to the lack of an outbreak in the area where you live.
These are other important points regarding the new measures:
- If you are not fully vaccinated, your job must give you an N95 mask from July 31st.
- Your workplace may ask to see your vaccination papers.
- You can be tested at no cost if you have not been vaccinated and have any symptoms of COVID-19.
- People who are vaccinated will not need to quarantine, even if they have been in contact with a COVID-19 case.
