Do you have a temporary employment contract?
In this week’s blog, we want to help you know what your rights are if so. This contract is a great short-term solution for you and your employer. Having a temporary employment contract gives you different rights than people who have a permanent contract. These are the most important rights to remember.
- Establish a schedule: Your contract should make it clear how many hours you work per day and how much rest you will have. You should have 11 hours of rest throughout a day or a day of rest if you work a week in a row. You are also entitled to maternity or paternity leave after being with the company for a certain period of time.
- Payment: You must be paid at least the minimum wage corresponding to your state. You may also be entitled to paid vacations if the company offers them. Holidays are not always going to be included in this type of vacation. After 12 weeks of work, you could have the same rights as a person who has a permanent contract.
- General treatment: From day one, you will have the same rights to obtain another job within the company where you work. This could help you get a permanent contract. You will have permission to use all the available facilities, and you will have the right to have health insurance. For no reason will it be valid for them to discriminate against you because of your gender, age, race, religion, sexual orientation, and marital status.
After looking at these rights, it is a little easier to see that these contracts are not so different. Therefore, it is important that you know what steps to take if you encounter any illegal treatment at your work.
If you are experiencing any type of discrimination, you must report it as soon as possible. You can report it to your boss, but seek the appropriate agency to file your complaint if you do not feel comfortable.
